Interdisciplinary Yet Focused

"Design for Digital Futures" is an interdisciplinary and international master's program offered at the University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg, Germany. Taught in English to accommodate an international student body, the program is designed to empower students to research, analyze, and incorporate emerging technologies into their creative practices.

Building on a robust technical foundation, the program encourages students to embark on their own projects within the digital design sphere, touching diverse topics such as computer generated imagery, generative design, interactive projects, as well as AI based design approaches.

By weaving together disciplines such as illustration, graphic design, typography, film, animation, interaction, and object design with the technical depth of computer sciences, AI, physical interaction, and the fundamental principles of physics and maths, the program promises a distinctive educational journey.

Objectives

1 / Gaining Technological Literacy

In an ever-changing technological landscape, the ability to quickly grasp and apply underlying principles is crucial. Our graduates are equipped to transform emerging technologies into their own innovative mediums, staying ahead in the dynamic field of design.

2 / Applying Design Research

A solid foundation in research and scientific methods empowers our graduates to make informed, strategic decisions within the realm of technology-driven design. This understanding is pivotal for advancing in their careers and contributing meaningful innovations.

3 / Colaborating Internationally

International collaboration stands as a cornerstone of progress in our interconnected world. We champion interdisciplinary and international cooperation, encouraging our students to broaden their horizons by spending a semester at a partner university abroad. This exposure is invaluable for cultivating a global perspective and network.

Industry Voices:

Matt Estela,

Senior Houdini Artist,

Google

"There's a notable shortage of
graduates with the right mix of technical skills and
artistic skills, graduates from this course will
clearly fill that gap."

Jeroen Claus,

Founder,

Phospho

"Being able to break down an academic paper, figureout its core messages and methodologies, andprocedurally building a design that is true to those research findings is a highly valued skill in our field, and no doubt many others as well."

Svet Lapchevka,

Creative Producer,

Future Deluxe

"A background in research is
exceptionally valuable as a high percentage of
design work commissioned by global companies
focussed on R&D and technology beyond the
present-day status quo."
